I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible to make s'mores in the city. Campfires seem archaic here, burner flames make for terrible tasting marshmallows and the microwave...well, that's just an obvious disaster.
Fortunately for those of us who can't just hike it to the nearest state park, there's a nearby solution at Windy City Sweets in Lakeview. The neighborhood candy shop has found a way to recreate the popular outdoor treat, and it's available in two variations; the original and peanut butter. After trying them both, I'm sticking with the original, if only for nostalgia's sake.
