Heartbroken? Eat chocolate.
There's no real remedy for a broken heart. But there are a couple of things that can soothe it and temporarily numb the pain. Good friends, long drives and chocolate are at the top of my quick-fix list. When possible, I find it's best to combine all three. And when that doesn't work, I always fall back on the latter. If your heart's been shot to a pulpy mess, take your mind off it with one of these endorphin-releasing treats.
Peanut Butter S'mores at Windy City SweetsRemember how simple life was before you could even spell r-e-l-a-t-i-o-n-s-h-i-p? Well, this campfire-inspired treat will make you feel like a carefree kid again. If that doesn't do the trick, this Lakeview candy shop is also stocked on fudge, glazed nuts and enough sugary snacks to keep you in a carb coma for days.
Red Fire Exotic Candy Bar at Vosges Haut-Chocolat This cinnamon and chile-infused dark chocolate bar will burn away those bittersweet memories. And don't let its shareable portion size get you down, that just means more for you now.
Blueberry Bliss at Ethel's Chocolate LoungeThe name says it all for this dark little square. Dusted in violet-hued sugar flecks and filled with a creamy ganache, it is indeed sheer bliss for a moment. And then before you've even had a chance to decide how you really feel about it, it's gone. Just like that.
Mexican Hot Chocolate at Hot ChocolateIf you're going to drink hot chocolate, you may as well go straight to the source. This steamy beverage is soothing to the last sip, and the restaurant's hip Wicker Park address provides plenty of eye-candy as well.
