When Liv Rundgren was nine years old, she went backstage to a Todd Rundgren show and met Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith. That night, she wrote in her diary, "I feel like Steven is my daddy and I don't know why" (a line later immortalized in the Lemonheads song "C'mon Daddy").

The reason, as she and the world would learn, was that she was indeed Tyler's daughter, from a close encounter between him and Bebe Buell. This didn't become public knowledge until five years later, when she started modeling as Liv Tyler (keeping Rundgren as her middle name). Now a New York resident (after attending Breakwater and Waynflete Schools in Portland), she switched to acting, appearing in commercials...

...and memorably costarring with Alicia Silverstone in the Aerosmith video "Crazy."

Then came film - she had her breakout performance in Stealing Beauty...

...but her signature role would have to be Arwen in the Lord of the Rings movies. Many a geek holds dear her moment of facing down the Nazgul.

Many a romantic holds dearer her love for Aragorn.

And both sides will be happy to hear that she can still speak Elvish.

So let's all take a moment to wish Liv a happy 32nd birthday.
