Borders Bookstore in Dallas, on Preston Road and Royal Lane, will be hosting an interesting variety of writers in the coming months.  Some people, however, like Karl Rove, are simply too big for an in-store appearance.

Mr. Rove, the so-called Architect,  has been credited with a slew of political victories: the gubernatorial and presidential elections of George W. Bush and the election of Texas's own Rick Perry when he ran for the Texas Agricultural Commission in 1990.   The House Judiciary Committee also gives Rove significant credit for the politically-motivated, improper firings of some U.S. attorneys in 2006.

The tubby golden-boy of the campaign trail has written a new memoir, Courage and Consequence: My Life As a Conservative in the Fight. With such a modest title, one wonders what he'll be talking about . . . and what he'll be furtively and unabashedly brushing over (or flat-out distorting).  In any case, it is on the shelves now for those who just finished the Palin book and need more, more, more.  Mr. Rove will be appearing at the DFW World Affairs Council on March 15 at 12:00.

The three-novels-a-year writer Stuart Woods will be promoting his two novels of 2010, Kisser and Lucid Intervals at an in-store appearance on April 25.  Will these two be as good as his other 38?  Come to the appearance and ask him in person.

And Charlaine Harris, whose Southern Vampire Mysteries are the bases of HBO's series True Blood, will be appearing at the Borders on May 15 at 2:00.
