The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) has published its annual list of Top Ten Worst Foods.  How do they choose?  There are so many worst foods to choose from!  You all probably have your own personal lists.

What do these foods have in common?  High saturated or trans-fats, or high salt (sodium), or high calories.  Most have all three.  A steady diet of these is a sure way to pave the way to heart attack and stroke with calcified fat deposits clogging your arteries.

Here are five picks from the CSPI list.  You know the products.  Click on this link to go to CSPI if you want to know the names.

1. A popular Roasted White Meat Chicken Premium Pot Pie: Over 1000 calories and 18 grams of saturated fat.

2.Vegetable soups: One can has more than  a normal person’s daily acceptable salt consumption, and much too much for someone with high blood pressure.  The recommended portion size is unrealistic.  They do offer reduced-sodium soups.  Still have a lot of salt. .

3.  Chocolate Cake:  Each five-inch-high slice  has 1,380 calories, 32 teaspoons of sugar, 33 grams of saturated fat and 5 grams of trans fat. Wow!

4.  Movie Theater Butter Popcorn Snack Size Bags: One snack-size bag has 11 grams of bad fats, 7 of which are trans fats.

5  Caffè Mocha:  Has 450 calories and 13 grams of bad fat

The choice is ours.
