Frist Center for the Visual Arts is consistently ranked as one of the top family attractions in Nashville. So what can you expect when you take your family to the Frist?

Large children’s gallery
The Martin ArtQuest Gallery is one of the finest examples of bringing art to children in any art museum in the country. Instead of just seeing pieces of art or reading about techniques used to create works of art, children have the opportunity to create their own works of art using the same techniques as the masters.

Exhibition space
The biggest draw back to the Frist is the small exhibition space. The Frist is the major art museum in Nashville, yet only has a few galleries. Another drawback is that the exhibitions, outside of the ArtQuest Gallery, are not accompanied by children activities so the little ones can get restless.

Friendly staff
The staff is not stuffy or snooty so put aside your art museum prejudices. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate family needs and make children feel welcome. They even offer free strollers if your toddler can’t toddle anymore!

Local tips
Save the ArtQuest Gallery for the end so your little ones creations won’t be smashed, torn, or chewed up.
If the kids get fussy, stop for a quick bite at the Café. Their menu changes weekly so it’s a good idea to check the Café website before you go if you have a picky eater.
