The OFMC makes a stop along the Unaweep Highway
Things are still hopping, although we all know they'll cool down along with the weather in another month or two. Here's what's going on the next couple weekends.

A Raise the Roof Poker Run to benefit the Tom McMahon Construction Scholarship Fund will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m. Gather at the Dam Grille, 8000 E. Quincy Avenue, in Denver. For information, call 303-320-5234.

The Wind & Fire International Motorcycle Club will host its 6th Annual Burn-Out Poker Run to benefit Angel Faces on Saturday, Sept. 6 in Loveland. The run starts out from Moto Adventure, 6385 Byrd Drive.

The 6th Annual 9/11 Motorcycle Tribute Parade will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 in Colorado Springs. The parade's theme is "Honoring our police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and all those who keep our communities safe." Ride registration is at 9 a.m. and a $5 per person donation is requested. The ride leaves from Pikes Peak Harley-Davidson, 5867 N. Nevada Ave.

The Sixth Annual Eddie Ossola Memorial Toy Run and Poker Run will be held Saturday, Sept 6 as part of the Ninth Annual Belvedere Blues Festival (Sept. 5-7). Admission is $17 per bike (plus one new toy); a second rider is only $8. Entry includes admission to Saturday's Blues Festival. Riders visit Florence, Cañon City and the world-famous Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Blues Tent behind Merlinos' Belvedere Restaurant at 1330 Elm Avenue in Canon City.

Also on Sept. 6 is the Colorado Veterans Honor Ride. Registration starts at 8 am  at Commerce City Veterans Memorial, Veterans Memorial Park, 6150 Parkway Drive in Commerce City. The first bike goes out at 9 am. The ride will go to veteran memorials. All proceeds go to assist Colorado veterans and veteran facilities.

A Ride 4 Heroes is planned for Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8 a.m. to benefit the families of Todd Sielaff and Joe Rockwell, firefighters who died on duty. The cost is $20 per rider, $5 per passenger. Meet up at the Stagecoach, 2077 N. Highway 83, in Franktown.

Ride Now Colorado 2008 is a benefit for Autism Speaks, an agency working for a cure for autism. The event takes places on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Invesco Field at Mile High. The cost is $30 and features live music by the Groove Hogs and Home Slice. I know the guys in Home Slice and they're a good band. This one definitely gets my recommendation.

The Road Rage Bike Show comes to the O'Meara Ford Center in Northglenn on Saturday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Progress for Prostate.

Also on Sept. 13, the Rocky Mountain Deaf School Building Fund will be the beneficiary of a benefit and motorcycle ride heading out from the Barn in Evergreen, 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road. Call 303-887-4697 for information.

ABATE District 24 will hold its Hooters & Scooters Run in Lyons on Sept. 13. Call 303-810-0626 for information.

Nooner's Poker Run, Taking Care of Our Own, will start at The Stagecoach, 2077 N Highway 83 in Franktown on Saturday, Sept. 13. Registration begins at 8 a.m. All proceeds from this event will go to Glenn Nooner who was diagnosed with cancer.

The 4th Annual Colorado State Patrol Youth Academy Poker Run is also set for Sept. 13, starting in Frederick at High Country Harley-Davidson and in Colorado Springs at Pikes Peak Harley-Davidson. The first bikes go out at 9 a.m., ride through a few checkpoints, and end  in Golden. The fee for the entry is $20 per person and $10 for a passenger who chooses not to play a hand. The ride is a benefit for the teens of Colorado. For more information call 303-263-3122.

An End the Summer at End of the Trail Poker Run starts at The End of the Trail, 653 Cedar Street in Hudson on Sept. 13. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The ride fee is $20 for the rider or $25 with a passenger. For information call 970-388-7394 or 303-536-9880.

The Table Mountain Animal Center & Freedom Harley-Davidson are sponsoring a Dogs and Hogs Poker Run on Sept. 13, leaving from Freedom Harley Davidson, 8020 W. Colfax Avenue in Lakewood. Poker run fees are $25 for the rider or $40 with a passenger.

In Sterling on Sept. 13, the Sterling American Legion Last Blast ride will start at the Sterling Elks Lodge, 321 Ash Street with registration from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Beneficiary will be the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund.

The Christian Motorcyclists Association’s Northern Colorado Turkey Run will be held in Greeley on Sunday, Sept. 14. The organization is interdenominational and evangelistic in nature.
