If you're dying to see some classic film noir from both Britain and France, the Belcourt is kicking off the second annual Noir Fest this Wednesday, which will last from February 10 to March 11. The film is showing tons of great vintage noir films that don't make the rounds on classic television stations, such as TCM, mainly because they are international films as well.
The festival will include 16 films with tickets to all of the films offered for $100 ($80 for members) and $32.50 ($25 for members) for five films. The festival begins with Carol Reed's The Third Man, which will be showing Feb 10 @ 7:30, Feb 11 @ 5:00, and Feb 13 @ 2:15. Reed's film Odd Man Out will end the festival in March and will be shown with a new 35mm print.
Other films that will be shown include Footsteps in the Fog, starring Stewart Granger and the late Jean Simmons, directed by Arthur Lubin which could be a great Valentine's Day treat. Jean-Paul Belmondo's New Wave film Le Doulos will be shown the weekend of February 20-21 and my personal favorite of the films, the creepy 1960 film Peeping Tom, directed by Michael Powell and starring Karlheinz Böhm in a serial killer obsessed with auteur film with be shown March 3-5.
Tickets for individual events can be purchased here while those who want to go the whole film festival or five ticket pack can purchase their tickets here.
