If anyone knows me and my husband, you know that for some reason if we want dessert in the city we always end up at Woodberry Kitchen. Being one of our favorite restaurants, which always offers excellent local, organic and sustainable food and drink, we tend to just gravitate there. I think our best record was being there 3 nights in a row, which is a statement to the excellent food and service offered.

Nathan and I had attended to the Taste of Elegance Pork Competition earlier that night, and after trying about 20 pork dishes, the need for dessert to cleanse the palette was in order, and maybe a couple of drinks too…….

The thing I love about Woodberry is that they are always changing their menu to go with the foods in season, so every time we go there is always something new on the menu.

I got the Sweet Potato Pie with marshmallow fluff and vanilla ice-cream, and was in heaven. I’m pretty sure my words to Chef Spike were “If I could make love to this dish, I would”. Along with my dessert I had to try a few drinks too. That night I stuck with the “Birds and Bees”, which consisted of fruit liqueur, local honey, lemon twist, and Cava, which of course was delicious.

I guess in this writing, I’m saying you need to go visit Woodberry soon, as their menu has transitioned fully over to fall and winter menu items. With lots of nightly specials, and of course always seasonal, local, sustainable and organic great tasting food, why would you not go? Also their Sunday brunch is great, and perfect place to enjoy a lazy Sunday.

And if for some reason you’re having a meal there and you hear some laughing or commotion at the bar, it’s most likely my husband and I. (I blame my husband fully, and apologize in advance ;)
