If you're not one of the 70,000 people who scored a ticket to Barack Obama's Grant Park rally, you have some choices to make. You could still camp out near the Petrillo Band Shell and wait to see how the heck it all plays out, or you could hit up one of these watering holes to watch the results roll in with a brew in hand.

  • SmallBar plays nice and welcomes right and left wingers alike, though the bar admits to rooting for the hometown guy. Bring in voting proof and nab $4 Carlsberg. (2049 W Division; more details here)
  • If the economy was the most pressing issue for you in this election, Matilda in Lakeview is slinging $1.50 fish tacos, $3 Pacifico and $5 glasses of champagne all night. Not quite as civil as SmallBar, Matilda makes its affection for Obama clear. (3101 N Sheffield; more details here)
  • The Onion takes over Logan Square's Quenchers, one of Chicago's best beer bars. Polls close at 7 p.m.; party starts at 7:01, with $2 PBR and shots of Malort, the bitter schnapps that'll make you cringe faster than a cheesy campaign ad. Live tunes start at 9 p.m., and people who present proof of voting get a special something. (2401 N Western; more details here)
  • If you're coming from the North Side, getting to M Lounge in the South Loop may present a challenge with the Grant Park madness, but it's a good pick for Obama supporters who want to be close to the action but not in it. Live jazz will set the backdrop as the ballots are counted and you knock back a few martinis and free appetizers. (1520 S. Wabash; more details here)

If none of these parties have earned your vote, check out this video invite for a soiree at Hard Rock Cafe hosted by Common, Talib Kweli, and Rahsaan Gordon.

If you're heading to Grant Park, check out the Trib's FAQs about the event. And, make a night of it and visit one of these restaurants near Grant Park before the event.

The Chicago Dining Examiner has a list of delicious election night meal deals.

These are just a few of the parties happening around town; if you're looking for more, visit the list at Metromix.

Though these events aren't 100-percent Obama-oriented, they definitely lean that way. If you're a McCain supporter, there's an event hosted by the Chicago Young Republicans and Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica at the Hilton Chicago.

Staying in? Check out these cocktail recipes.

Don't forget to vote! For info on polling places, etc., visit the Cook County Election Department.

Obama and McCain aren't the only people on the ballot. Find out who else is in the race here.
