Anthony Bourdain's latest adventure for his Travel Channel show "No Reservations" brings him to the culinary capital that is Chicago. Chicagoans are fiercly proud of our city's food offerings, and how rewarding it will be to watch the New York chef and writer relish his time in the Windy City. The Travel Channel's website lists this teaser for tonight's episode:
Anthony Bourdain loves the edge and energy of big cities. So how is it that he has avoided Chicago for so long? In this episode of "No Reservations," Tony sets off to rectify this situation and to finish some unfinished business of his own – to discover new culinary treats, and the secret of the ever-popular deep-dish pizza.
The show will take Bourdain to sausage emporium Hot Doug's, L20, Calumet Fisheries, Avec, Ramova Grill and Matchbox, among other locales. Matchbox's adjoining restaurant Silver Palm is hosting a viewing party tonight, dishing up its Three Little Piggy sandwich, which will be featured on the episode. I can't think of a better way to take in the show than sipping on the city's best Manhattan, courtesy of Matchbox, and eating a trio of pork. It's a meal that would certainly make Bourdain proud. The episode airs tonight at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on the Travel Channel. For an in-depth preview of the show, check out this Sun-Times article from Bourdain's Chicago culinary companion, Louisa Chu.
