If you didn't get enough pub crawling in during your co-ed days, you can bust out your tolerance for the 10th Annual Wormy Pub Crawl this Saturday, November 8. The day of drinking begins at 3 p.m. in Lincoln Square at the German tap Huettenbar; the group then snakes its way down Lincoln until finally winding up in North Center at O'Donovan's. What better way to explore two great neighborhoods than with copious amounts of brewski? Donations collected throughout the evening benefit the Anti-Cruelty Society, in honor of Wormy (hence the event name), a rescued dog.

Here's a list of all the watering holes on the agenda:

  • Huettenbar, 4721 N Lincoln: Years ago the only patrons you would find here spoke German, but today the crowd skews a bit more diverse, with Bavaria natives sharing the narrow space with young professionals and married couples. The atmosphere is lively and you know the traditional German brews are flowing.
  • The Grafton, 4520 N Lincoln: One of the most authentic Irish taps in the city, The Grafton eschews cheesy Emerald Isle parephenalia and sets a cozy atmosphere with dark wood, big booths, a fireplace and some knock-out fish 'n' chips. It even hosts live Irish music jam sessions.
  • 42 N. Latitude, 4500 N Lincoln: This is probably the swankiest spot on the crawl, but by now you'll probably be so tipsy you won't even notice the brick walls, grey booths and low lighting.
  • Bowman's Bar & Grill, 4356 N Lincoln: It's too bad Chicagoland will likely see flurries this weekend, becasue Bowman's corner patio overlooking Welles Park and Lincoln Avenue would be a prime location to park it with a beer in hand.
  • Wild Goose Bar & Grille, 4265 N Lincoln: The Goose is a fairly standard Chicago neighborhood bar; lots of TVs, decent pub grub (its nacho plate is enormous), with the usual suspects on tap (think Bass, Harp, Stella) and some welcome surprises.
  • O'Donovan's, 2300 W Irving Park: Kudos goes to O'Ds for always stepping it up for holidays, outfitting its cozy envrions with festive gear, and also for its insanely massive and delicious Sunday brunch. Mr. Brown's three-piece band will entertain the bargoers from 8 p.m. on. If the crawlers make it to 11 p.m., they can make one last attempt at curbing a hangover by ordering off O'Donovan's late-night menu to soak up the booze.
