This is a list of the top 20 most popular breeds around the world according to iDakotaOne as of October 2007.  This list was compiled through a survey of individual breeders and breed association websites.  Internet support for the top two most popular breeds, the Arabian and the American Quarter Horse, showed a significant and substantial amount compared to other breeds.  Due to other internet content I have found it seems as though some people will be surprised to see where some of these breeds rank on the list.  I found several blog type websites where the most popular breed in the world was speculated to be the American Quarter Horse, which surveyed as a close second, or the Thoroughbred, which ranked fifth.  Some of these breeds may now hold a different spot on this list, however, I think that several of these breeds seem accurate in their rank.
