As if they firmly believe they are broadcasting to certified imbeciles, CBS News continues to crank out inaccuracies that cannot be deemed anything other than blatant lies.
Reporters are not dumb. They know the truth. But they do not tell the truth to their viewers.
Saturday evening's broadcast of the CBS Evening News was replete with barefaced untruths that any astute viewer would immediately recognize as fabrications and opinion.
Let's start with the most egregious of the lies.
When reporting on the latest national unemployment figures, the weekend substitute anchor stated that California's jobless rate is the highest ever recorded in the state's history. He then proceeded to state that the rate was 11%.
Immediately the red flags began to wave in my head because I knew that during the Great Depression, the national unemployment rate was 25%, and no state in the union was immune from the rampant joblessness. Therefore, it was hard for me to believe that California's 11% jobless rate today was 'the highest in the state's history.'
Sure enough, the actual figures show the real truth. California's unemployment rate is the highest since 1976--during Jimmy Carter's presidency. The actual figures can be found here.
Why do the mainstream media insist on constantly overlooking the Jimmy Carter years by claiming that today's economic woes are 'the worst since the Great Depression,' when even a cursory knowledge of the Carter years, 1976-1981, shows otherwise? The answer is simple. It doesn't fit the media template that 'George Bush left us with an economy as bad as the Great Depression (which is FALSE) and that Barack Obama is another FDR who will lead us out of it.'
But this was not the only untruth CBS told.
One of its weekend reporters claimed that Barack Obama was going to demand that all of the agencies of government cut their budgets, thus proving (in the words of the reporter) that 'Obama is fiscally responsible.'
Pardon me? Fiscal responsibility does not mean tripling the national debt and doubling down on the budget deficit by an obviously uncontrolled spending spree on the part of the federal government.
A little bit of cutting back on the part of the various government agencies is not going to bring this massive deficit into the balanced column.
No wonder CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, the New York Times, and similar liberal media outlets are losing viewers and readers right and left. Intelligent Americans know when they are being played for stooges.
And the real stooges are in the mainstream media.
