Despite the government's latest insistence last evening that Major Nidal Hasan 'acted alone,' troubling details remain on the Fort Hood shooter's beliefs, motives, and actions leading up to the worst massacre on a military base in U.S. history.

Here is what we know so far.

First, in spite of clear military prohibitions concerning religious proselytizing, Hasan not only zealously attempted to convert his fellow physicians and members of the medical staff at Walter Reed Army Hospital, but his patients as well.  This is a clear violation of medical ethics.

Second, Hasan went further than simply attempting to 'spread his faith.'  His message to those who refused to convert to Islam included threats such as beheading, torture, and 'going to hell.'

Third, the Major expressed vociferous opposition to U.S. foreign policy with regard to the war on terror.  He equated the wars in Iran and Afghanistan with 'wars against Islam.'

Fourth, despite the notion that Hasan 'had no connection to terrorism,' he openly declared on numerous occasions that Muslims should rise up against anyone and any country engaged in a 'war against Islam.'  That, obviously, includes the U.S. and American citizens.

Fifth, Hasan had direct connections with the mosque in Virginia that was central to the 9/11 attacks on the U.S.  Records released by the FBI show that he had numerous conversations with the extremist radical Muslim Imam at the mosque, from whom many terrorists around the world draw their inspiration.  In fact, one Imam in particular praised Hasan for his murderous rampage.

Sixth, perhaps the most telling intel of all is that Hasan attempted to contact Al Qaeda.  From the start, the stance of the government, the U.S. military, and the White House has been that there is absolutely no connection between the Major and Al Qaeda.  The fact is we do not know for sure that contact was never made.  In addition, we do know that one week prior to Hasan's rampage, Al Qaeda had issued a general call to Jihadists to rise up against those forces that 'wage war against Islam.'

Seventh, it is absolutely, positively clear that Hasan never suffered from 'Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome.'  The laughable suggestion that the shooter had PTSD has been widespread in the state-run media (SRM) in some sort of wild-haired attempt to explain Hasan's actions.  He never served in a war zone.  Thus, any such suggestion is wildly ludicrous.  Even Fox News got in on the act as 2 bimbo talking heads decided that the mass murderer may have suffered from 'vicarious post-traumatic stress,' resulting from his contact with patients who had been in the war zone.  Of course, such a diagnosis does not even exist.

These are the verified facts as we know them to date.

The question as to whether or not Hasan had direct contact with Al Qaeda is actually a non-issue.  The media has made quite a big deal of it in an attempt to prove that the shooter 'is not a terrorist.'

Does an extremist religious zealot who kills people because of his faith and because he adheres to the philosophy of 'Jihad' have to belong to a specific terrorist group in order to be a terrorist?  The obvious answer is no.  Even individuals who act alone but are inspired by the words of actions of murderous extremists qualify as terrorists.

Perhaps someone should take a bullhorn and shout that simple fact into the ears of Obama, the U.S. Army, the FBI, and the state-run media.
