If you dig gaming on your pocketable laptop... er, iPhone... you may be interested to learn that Escalation Studios, a division of id Games, has rolled out DOOM: Resurrection for the iPhone and iPod Touch devices. Escalation claims to have developed an entirely new 3D engine to take advantage of the power in the iPx (that's my way of not having to type out iPhone and iPod Touch, even though I just did) devices, and from the trailer it looks like they have succeeded.
Instead of traditional First Person Shooter (FPS) controls, DOOM: Resurrection adopts a classic "On Rails" play format. Movement is handled for you as you progress through the levels, but its your job to take on hell's minions with an array of wickedly gruesome assault weapons.
DOOM: Resurrection is available now from the iTunes Musix Store and supports the iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 2.2.1 or later.
