Agassi ‘Open’ book signing: Will fans support him?
Andre Agassi is a living tennis legend but will his fans stick by him? It appears so. Agassi fans are supporting him with the release of his book 'Open' even though some tennis professionals, such as former no. 1 ranked Marat Safin, have heavily suggested Agassi should ‘give up’ his titles and return prize money due to his drug use and lies.
Female tennis legend Martina Navratilova, suggested Agassi should ‘give up’ his titles because if his drug test hadn’t been thrown out Agassi would have been banned from competing whether these were performance enhancing drugs or not.
Agassi defends himself by stating crystal meth is not a performance enhancing drug and while on it he played some of his worst competitions: “I couldn’t even have beaten Martina on it," he stated at last night's book signing here in Las Vegas. He also opens up to fans about why he wrote the book.
Not a seat to be had at The Encore in Las Vegas demonstrated that fans came out in support of Agassi. “I watched Agassi play twice at the U.S. Open,” states Agassi fan and suporter Jeff Lipko, “I even started playing tennis because of watching him.”
Fans, many of whom purchased five or more books each, waited in long lines for hours for the former eight time Grand Slam winner to sign their books. Agassi stated he would meet, greet, and sign every fan’s book.
