The Buffalo News reports that a Clarence Center woman known for helping refugees settle in Western New York has been charged with "misusing tens of thousands of dollars in money from the United Nations."
The U.S. Attorney's office charged Deborah C. Bowers, 54, of Countryside Court, with 14 felony crimes, including wire fraud, money laundering and making false statements to federal agents.
Bowers misused part of the $350,000 in United Nations funds that she and an Iraqi-American associate received in 2005 to operate an Iraq radio station, prosecutor Timothy C. Lynch said.
This in contrast to the hundreds of millions that are extorted from honest citizens every year by the state in order to fund socialist UN programs in the first place.
