Whether you realize it or not, if you opposed -- and still oppose -- the monstrously immoral federal bailout bill passed and signed into law last week, you have cast your lot with Ron Paul.
For years, Rep. Paul, the only advocate and student of Austrian economics in Congress, has been warning of this very collapse of the economy at the hands of central bankers at the Federal Reserve and their arbitrary manipulation of the money supply, along with their willing accomplices in Congress. In fact, had this current calamity occurred only eight months earlier, we'd probably be watching Ron Paul debate Mr. Trotsky right now instead of Comrade McCain.
But we is what we is. And as Geoffrey Pike points out today in LRC, despite the government's insistence upon ripping off taxpayers and exacerbating the depression -- all just to reward cronies who failed on Wall Street -- there is a silver lining to the bailout.
We have a lot to be positive about. Now you may think that is crazy because Congress still passed the bailout bill, despite strong opposition from constituents. Now don’t expect all of these people to be voted out of office next month who voted "yes" on the bill, but this cannot go on forever. First of all, the empire is coming crashing down. Even if this weren’t the case, it won’t matter over time. Americans are becoming far more well informed than in the past. The internet allows us to communicate to each other quickly and effectively and expose many of the lies of the politicians. When a large number of Americans finally withdraw their consent, the government will no longer function as it does. It will come crashing down, much like the Soviet empire did.
Americans are realizing in large numbers that the government is not their friend. With Congress defying the will of the people, it made people angrier. It basically shows the whole system as a sham and that we don’t have representative government.
This is a benefit no amount of money can buy. Now is the time to continue to champion the merits of radical libertarianism; of self-government; of liberty. The Ron Paul Revolution lives on.
