Apparently one of the new perks being offered in an attempt to attract teachers to Florida public schools is the constant and omnipresent stench of B.O. throughout the school day.
A new Florida law will require elementary schools statewide to offer 150 minutes of physical education a week, a mandate that works out to be 30 minutes per day of running, jumping, and sweating.
PE teacher Michele Rivera called physical education "as important as any subject taught in schools.''
''The kids are not only getting an education that moves their bodies, they're learning lifetime healthy habits,'' she said.
It's all well and good to integrate PE into a child's education curriculum -- something private schools undoubtedly do, as well -- but don't put too much faith in schools filled with teachers who actually think doing jumping jacks is as important as mastering academic skills.
