That is the optimal number for one lucky super delegate to push Senator Barack Obama over the top for the Democratic Party nomination. Being the cynic that I am, I will bet good money that uncommitted super delegates across the country will be closely watching Obama’s margin of victory in Montana and South Dakota on Tuesday evening. Sometime around 10 p.m. EST, the press releases will start flowing announcing the rush of endorsements.

The most likely scenario for Obama is that he comes out of those two states with about twenty delegates to go to wrap up the nomination. So, where does that leave local uncommitted delegates such as House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer, Senator Benjamin L. Cardin, Congressmen Chris Van Hollen and John Sarbanes, who have to be careful to maximize their support for the Democratic Party nominee, not only for themselves but for Maryland as well?

The Maryland Lottery has a catchy slogan that these super delegates may want to keep in mind over the next forty eight hours: “Let Yourself Play.”
