Strong thunderstorms are rumbling across Middle Tennessee tonight. The strongest of which are in the eastern sections of the mid-state. Several observers noted strong winds preceeding the actual rainfall along with very dark clouds. Lightning was very much on display earlier in counties near Nashville.
A SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT is in effect for overnight and tomorrow morning for DENSE FOG. Driving conditions could become very tricky, especially in areas near water like streams, creeks, rivers, and lakes. Take extra time and care to be safe and allow yourself longer than usual to make it to your destination.
The fog is expected to dissipate around 9 am on Sunday, but in the mean time isolated locations that have a history of experiencing dense fog could become particularly dangerous. As the National Weather Service advises, reduce your speed, drive with your lights on low beam, reduce speed where possible and use your wipers and defroster as necessary for maximum visibility.
