OLD GLORY..Honor her and the people

The weather forecast for the Metro-Nashville and vicinity area is becoming much clearer as we transition into the Independence Day holiday weekend.

Lets start out with our Friday forecast. Many of you are taking off work today and have plans for yardwork, relaxing, etc. You'll be extremely happy with the Friday forecast as temperatures are expected to climb into the middle 80's across Middle Tennessee. Tonight's lows will be a comfortable 65° across the region.

For Saturday, July 4th, we do expect showers and storms to develop later in the day and during the overnight period. At this time, a complete washout is NOT expected. Daytime highs will be around 90° with increasing humidity levels, while Saturday night's low will be in the 70's. Again, I think we will see increasing chances of rain both Saturday night and all day on Sunday. The highs on Sunday will be in the middle 80's, held down by cloud cover and numerous showers and thunderstorms.

*Nashville's latest, local forecast*

We heat up for next week. Back to more typical July weather. Our average high this time of year is 90°...we've had quite a nice break. By mid-week, however, we will see highs in the lower and mid 90's.

In the 'Did You Know' segment today.....on this date in 1952, Nashville hits 94° and it is the 31st consecutive day with 90+ degree readings. The average high during those 31 days is an incredible 97.3!

Have a great Independence Day weekend, remember those men & women who have paid the price for YOUR freedom. It is not free in any way. Someone gave their life so that you could live. Honor those who came before us and those who serve today. I know I will.
