Instead of celebrating July Fourth with barbecues and fireworks, about 2,000 small-government advocates, carrying signs and chanting, gathered at Capitol Hill Saturday.

Activists said the TEA Party Day, an acronym for "'Taxed Enough Already,'" was done because of what they called "runaway government spending."

They are "taking to task" the stimulus program and health care initiative of the Obama administration, saying  that Congress is not giving constituents enough information about how their tax money is being spent.

People at the rally were less than pleased with the $787 economic stimulus plan passed earlier this year, which they said will pass on a huge debt to their grandchildren. They said that Obama's push for health care overhaul is "'socialism,' and believe it would negatively affect the quality of care."

I am curious to know how many of the people at the rally did not have health insurance. It is easy to say things should not be changed because too much money would be spent when you have nothing to worry about if you get sick.

If the money is not spent on health care, I am almost positive that it would be spent on something else.
