This is Shirley Chisholm, an early pioneer as an effective female communicator. Remember?

We have been at this for a long time, folks. Innovating. Making our lives work around unworkable circumstances. And telling each other about it.

Now, we have this global brain - this huge connected inter-network in our hands. And we're using it too.

I see examples every day of how women, especially mature women, engage new media tools such as blogs and Twitter to vastly expand their reach. And this is something I celebrate daily.

What bugs me is how few mature women are actually doing this. There's a catch-22 going on. I teach people how to write practical online content, and I try to do it in a way that motivates through sheer inspiration and awe of the potential. But which people? And how do I find them? The problem is, the people who understand what I'm talking about don't really need me. And the people who really could benefit from what I teach are not reachable via new media.

Grrrr! Here I am, then, appealing to you, dear blog reader, to help in this pursuit of a broader conversation. Each of us has at least a couple of friends who are bothered by the entry points of blogs and Twitter, not curious enough to do the brain work, or needing help with it. Would you tell them I'd like to engage those issues and see if we can bring them across the bridge? Or, do it yourself. Those of us who are able to interact online have a little edge (sometimes a big one) which can be just the boost our friends need. (And yes, I know that online communication is not for everyone. But almost.)

When you do that, you're doing what I call Cloud Alchemy. I happen to think it's a bit bigger than "networking."

Thank you for your help! The global brain appreciates it.
