As the web unfolds and more sophisticated platforms become available, we can do something which was not really possible in the past: Distribute leadership over many diverse individuals, targeted to highly focused and appropriate populations. There are many ways this is being done, and I see sophisticated users of the tool called "Twitter" doing it every day.

For example, on Twitter, I see individuals creating think tanks meshed with networking in the form of "chats" or "Tweetchats." This is an expanded form of leadership.

Joe Gerstandt takes the idea several steps further on his blog, "Our Time to Act."

Joe and Mary Schaefer are modeling this complex new leadership style in the act of discussing it. Take a look at Mary's thoughtful essay here at ReImagine Work.

Thoughtful, articulate, ongoing discourse plus love. We have a chance at productive change. I feel it. Do you?
