This post is part of the Glossary Series, a 100-day conversation designed to develop and clarify the language we use to describe online communication. As Year 2008 comes to a close, the emerging Glossary of Online Communication will be published along with a selection of the comments from my readership. I hope to see your comments among them.
Today's term was found on a site called Social Signal. This was Alexandra Samuel's post, Web 2.0 Glossary.
Day 8: Moblogging
Moblogging: Short for mobile blogging, moblogging refers to posting blog updates from a cell phone, camera phone or pda (personal digital assistant). Mobloggers may update their web sites more frequently than other bloggers, because they don't have to be at their computers in order to post.
Mobility is king, and if you're not aware of that, you will be soon. If you wonder how people "find the time" to use social media, this is one answer. They're making use of little moments, and they are ultra-responsive (maybe that's another new term) because they can notate, post, Twitter, or blog in the moment, even while the thoughts are forming.
Sure, it always looks like they're just being rude, but fact is, a lot of people are actually working via the text and voice tools on cell phones and PDAs.
