All websites are not created equal. But you knew that. Good sites, to me, have friendly fonts (please don’t make me read scripty italics or tiny white letters on a black background), extremely low strobe (flashing ads, rolling ads, free-loading video or audio), and highly accessible navigation (clear category tabs across the top). The content has to work too, naturally, but I will keep reading through typos and random apostrophes if the information is helpful and/or entertaining. Try these out and let me know what you think.
LifeTwo (www.lifetwo.com)
Covers all the bases and then some. Brain health, lifestyle, blogs, opportunities to expose your own work. Has that community feeling.
55-Alive (www.55-alive.com)
Very visual site using photos to lead the eye through. A little more on the second-career, investment, travel and recreation side. Also provides sections on family, grandparenting, and pets.
Queen of the Road (www.queenoftheroadthebook.com)
Who could resist this? Doreen Orion writes about two Boomer psychiatrists in an RV traveling around the U.S. You can experience quite a bit of the tour on her blog, with photos and explanations. It may not be Codrescu, but I love it when people take to the road and bother to share. Besides, everyone’s smiling in the photographs.
Have some fun today.
