We're all the same in the eyes of the IRS

August 27, 11:18 AM
by Suzanna Stinnett, S.F. Boomers Examiner

Few things are as stressful as approaching that pile of papers to get those taxes filed. In a recent exchange with Gina Gwozdz, a tax accountant with a regular blog, I learned that there is really no difference, tax-wise, between an online entrepreneur, a writer, an artist, and any other businessperson in sole proprietorship.

It seems like there would be a difference, but there isn’t.

The world of taxes has a lot of illusions like that, doesn’t it? Since the only certainties in life are death and taxes, I guess it makes sense that we’d have some blind spots (read: denial) about both of those.

In my Introductions series over at Great Adaptations, I’m exposing my readers to several helpful websites and articles. Gina’s blog is comforting to me, and as a Boomer online, I often look for  comfort.

You can see Gina's recent article  about being ready to face some of the challenges of tax time, here.

What does D.E.A.L. stand for?

July 30, 3:19 PM
“Why am I always harping about Tim Ferriss?” I asked myself this morning, when I was in that waking maelstrom of neural misfires about 5:15 a.m. Customarily I have “another” voice in my head that answers questions. (My demi -... Read More

Making connections with the business-builders in social media

July 16, 3:26 PM
One thing I learned at Social Media Camp  yesterday, is that social networking flowered out into an unmanageable field of weedy flowers immediately after inception. Really, the way things explode on the Internet is beyond my ability to muse. So... Read More
