I recently used the Callaway HX Hot Bite for the first time. I absolutely loved it. It seemed to be longer than the others I have used recently and checked up nicely on the green when it was supposed to do so. Some balls just feel better than others and, for me, this one did the trick.
Callaway had a lot of success with their HX Hot ball last year. It came in an orange box and sold really well. The Hot became known as one of the longer balls out there. The Hot Bite was an attempt to combine the length of the Hot with a little spin around the greens. Callaway succeeded.
The Hot Bite is a three-piece ball with a very soft cover, giving you a really great feel off your wedge and putter. Of course, it has the HEX Aerodynamics dimple pattern that Callaway has invented. That dimple pattern is supposed to reduce drag in the air and result in longer, straighter ball flight. I have no idea whether that really works but I do know if you are looking for a long ball with bite around the green, this is your ball.  In addition, at $29.99 per dozen, the price isn't too bad.
