Callawy Ft-i: It's hip to be square
I have to explain something. When it comes to golf products, I am like a crow. If it is shiny and new, I am instantly attracted to it. I have had limited success when it comes to that buying strategy. One purchase, however, has turned out to be a good one. Sometime last year, I bought the Callaway FT-i. This club is better known as “that weird-looking square-headed driver.” Not the huge yellow Nike but the smaller, black Callaway.
There is a technology behind this thing. Something about having weight in the back corners of the driver that serves to prevent torque. If you are interested, you can go to the Callaway Web site here:

My game suffers from what one might call a slight left to right movement. I certainly cannot say that the new driver has cured my slice but I have noticed that for the most part, the serious banana ball has been eliminated from my game. Don’t get me wrong, I still have many, many different things that can and do still go wrong with my drives, but the new driver seems to have helped with the banana.
If nothing else, it has given me confidence on the tee. That will do wonders for you. Despite its strange shape, it’s not bad looking. It does sound slightly like an aluminum bat when you hit it, but you quickly get used to it. In any case, I highly recommend it. My friend, Kevin, makes fun of me but I like it anyway. Still can’t beat him, but that has nothing to do with the driver.
