As your new LA Sports & Food Examiner, I promise there is a lot to look forward to on this page!

Years ago I began exploring ways that food and sports -- two of my main loves in life, the other being family -- could collide in ways that were both clever and delicious. “SportsBites” was the natural result of that.

Having done almost everything under the umbrella of a chef for many years, both authoring a local newspaper column and hosting an internet radio show with the “SportsBites” theme, I have landed here to extol the virtues of this quirky collision. With my native city of angels as the backdrop, it is my grandest intention to take its sports, and wrap the most clever and entertaining food twists around them as possible.

So if you like sports and love food, or love sports and like food - or are anywhere in between - you have joined me just in time!

Sports fans will gain some gourmet savvy, just enough to add a little edge to those food conversations that permeate many airwaves, and certainly the hottest blogs lately. At best, they may opt to spend more time in the kitchen because recipes will be provided here, for experimentation!

Food fans will glean just enough wisdom to hold their own in conversations at the next sports bar or party. At best, they may take home a new favorite sport to explore further, and our other Examiners can certainly help with that.

Everyone will enjoy unusual and often heartwarming stories, about the foods that bring home our local sports, events, and athletes.

It is my deepest vision to have LA’s international athletes share their own stories of food from home, and catch us a glimpse of their family traditions at tables from around the world.

The spectacular melting pot of cultures we have within LA boasts over 140 languages spoken. How amazing for us, that so many immigrants came here with the promise of hope in their hearts and, their family recipes! Many of these same internationals grace our baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer pitches, ice arenas, golf and cycling courses, tennis courts, and other venues. Surely they each have a good food story to share. I will do my best at drawing those out and reporting them here.

Thank you for reading my introduction and for visiting often. I look forward to our getting to know each other better, and sharing stories unique to this topic, and LA!
