Loacted in the DTC at 8090 E. Quincy

It is nice to see the temperate spring weather return presenting the opportunity for restaurants to open up their outdoor dining.  It is also nice to find a Mexican restaurant serving not only good, quality food, but also quite a few excellent, vegetarian options.

Nice shade and nice park view from the patio.

On a suggestion, we stopped in to La Fogata in DTC at 8090 E. Quincy.  It was such a beautiful, spring day, we were delighted to discover La Fogata has large patio for outside dining, that is nicely shaded by surrounding aspens, keeping it cool and comfortable even in the midday Sun.  We were impressed with the overall cleanliness of the entire restaurant, and good staffing to keep wait times minimal.

Lots of vegetarian and dietary options.

Despite all that, what really sets this restaurant apart are the vegetarian options on the menu.  Diners can enjoy vegetarian green chili by the pint for $5.95 and they will even add pork to it for those so inclined for an additional charge of $1.00.  Additionally, they have three choices for vegetarian frijoles where most places have none.  They serve vegetarian black beans, whole pintos or refried pintos.  I am hoping we understood each other correctly, but, the way I understand it, all of their beans are made without animal products.  That is great for vegetarians, but also good for people dieting and looking to reduce caloric intake.

It is a medium-spiced table salsa with a nice hint of cilantro

I liked the flavor of the table salsa as well.  Everyone does a variation of this and I like to sample all the varieties.  This one is spiced “middle-of-the-road” with the nice addition of just enough cilantro.  It was very tasty.  As for the food, La Fogata does a good job of presentation and providing a product suitable to a wide variety of tastes and dietary needs.  They really gave the impression of being a top-notch, well-run, and well-organized culinary venue.

It is a very nice, comfortable patio.

I can only speak for the one location, (there are three in the Denver area), and only for the one visit, but they garnered high marks and my recommendation.  They have good salsa, good margaritas, good food, good service and fair prices.  I will definitely keep this one on my list and look forward both to a return visit and to trying the other locations.

For more info, visit on-line at La Fogata , ( By the way, una "fogata" is a bonfire or campfire and probably refers to the large fireplace inside)
Three locations:
1) DTC - 8090 E. Quincy Avenue, 720-974-7315
2) 5670 E. Evans Avenue, 303-753-9458
3) 16600 Washington Street, Thornton, 303-252-5530
This review is only for the first location, but you can probably expect similar food and similar treatment at other locations.
Great patio dining in South Denver
There are good drinks, good food and good prices on this patio.
