You can almost see to Kansas

OK, this should come as no surprise.  Anyone who has lived in Denver for a reasonable amount of time knows there is a great view of the city from the large deck at Simms Landing in Lakewood.  Perched on a hill on the northwest corner of Sixth Avenue and Simms, Simms Landing has been providing the area with great seafood and a great view for years. .

They even advertise themselves as "Denver's Famous View" and they are right.  They proudly post a picture on their website that is pretty much exactly how it looks, except their shot is from a lower vantage point to avoid all the clutter between them and the Denver Skyline.  Also, non-meat eaters need to note that there is little on the menu for vegetarians aside from a couple of appetizers, salads and side dishes.  Nonetheless, I did not hesitate to enjoy to enjoy a the $2.00 domestic draws at Happy Hour and unwind with friends over the great view.  The view, by the way, is not only of Denver but of the mountains to the west as well.  It can get pretty spectacular at sunset.

I love the nautical theme right from the front door.

If you like seafood and steak, Simms Landing is a great place to dine and a great place to take a date.  It can be a little expensive, but most restaurants are these days.  Still, you get great food, (I used to eat there often when I used to eat fish), great service and an all around great place to dine.  The nautical theme is very inviting from the minute you walk up the steps and, day or night, that view of the city will always enhance your dining experience.  Simms Landing is just a nice place to dine.

They have great seafood.

They have a variety of appetizer specials at Happy Hour for half price.  Oysters on the half shell is just one of them. .

They have a very professional waitstaff.

I have never been disappointed with the outstanding service. .

Where else in Denver can you get this view?

This is an actual picture of the view taken from the deck at Simms Landing.

To get there, you can use the frontage road just north of Sixth Avenue, but it can be easier getting in and out if you go down to Eighth Avenue and wiggle your way back through the mini-maze behind the restaurant.  Trust me, there is a lot of traffic at that intersection from around 5:00 P.M.  until past 6:00 p.m.  You can save frustration if you learn to use the back streets.
