If a blogger goes silent in the woods of the world wide web, does anyone notice?
Writing for the Examiner was educational, entertaining and very very worthwhile. If you have ever thought about pro-blogging, you should really try it. The team behind the scenes is a great gang of gals and guys, and this has been hands down the best writing assignment I've ever had. Interestingly, interacting with my readers from my fans to my detractors, has been a fun experience that speaks volumes about community blogging and "news" media.
I've learned a lot about the blurring lines between being a tech blogger, and accidentally covering breaking news like the Roxana Saberi imprisonment, and the Jennifer Frisina disappearance, and the pseudo-anonymous interaction between reader and writer. I think there are a great many questions left for the Denver Internet audience, and pushing the envelope will continue with all my fellow Examiners.
My reasons for leaving are simple; though I love the job and the research it entails, doing the legwork for verifying facts and rechecking data started to impose upon my other commitments. If there were only 24 more hours in a day.
I might return at some point to cover other beats, but you know, there are hundreds of other great bloggers here to follow up with, so you won't be missing anything in Gadgets and Tech, or in the ever changing world of online journalism
So don't think of this as a goodbye. Think of it as see you in a little while. The news continues.
