The 11th-ranked Maryland Terrapins men's soccer team finally found a cure for its recent, short losing streak, beating Loyola-Chicago, 1-0, on Monday night in College Park. The lone goal came from Kaoru Forbess, the first of his career, and the eighth different Terp to notch a goal this season.

The win moved Maryland to 6-3-1 on the season, and the Terps remain 2-1-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Maryland had lost two consecutive games prior to last night, dropping 2-0 decisions at George Mason and #9 Duke. Maryland will host Virginia Tech on Friday night at Ludwig Field. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.

The Hokies don't figure to be in a good mood entering that ACC clash, after dropping a 3-1 score to nearby rival Radford last night. Emmanuel Akogyeram scored his third goal of the season to put Virginia Tech (3-5-2 overall, 2-1 ACC) ahead in the 36th minute, but the Highlanders answered with 3 second-half goals to upend the Hokies. Tech has conference wins against #18 North Carolina State and Clemson, but lost by a convincing 5-1 score to #6 Wake Forest last Friday.

The road gets no easier for the Hokies starting with Friday night's game at Maryland. On Tuesday, the Hokies will host #1-ranked and undefeated Akron, before battling arch-rival and 13th-ranked Virginia a week from Saturday. That game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Thompson Field in Blacksburg.

In the only game last night pitting area teams against each other, Navy knocked off Loyola, 2-1. Luke Goldsborough scored the winner in the 92nd minute, after Chris Marino had given the Mids the lead originally. The goals for both players were their first of the season. Jamie Darvill drew Loyola level in the 65th minute. Navy improved to 6-5 and remained 1-1 in the Patriot League; while Loyola slipped to 3-6-1. The Greyhounds open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play Saturday vs. Rider. Navy returns to conference play with a match at Lehigh Saturday.

Here is today's schedule:

Howard at VMI, 4
Longwood at #13 Virginia, 7
Towson at George Mason, 7
Georgetown at Seton Hall, 7
Stony Brook at #25 UMBC, 7
