What sane Republican would rush to save Obama from a sure political catastrophe? Already considered  by some a  Republican in name only (RINO ),  Lindsey Graham wants to help save Obama's hide  on the Gitmo issue.

Obama  pledged to close Guatanamo. As president, Obama confidently took three steps towards keeping that pledge:

   1. January 21,2009: Ordered Guantanamo closed "no later than one year"
   2. Overhauled U.S. interrogation policies
   3. Moved trials of  Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and others to New York federal court .

With major elections eight months away, Obama is an untenable political corner, trapped by his inexperience and failure to foresee major obstacles. There is no way he can keep the promise because -- he can't

   1. find a place to transfer, detain and prosecute establishing a solid legal basis as the US continues to capture, detain, and interrogate suspected al-Qaeda prisoners. America is not an option.
   2. return detainees to their home countries or a third country. Home countries  nor  third  countries want to accept the risk.
   3. solve the problem of what to do with detainees too dangerous to release yet  unlikely to be successfully prosecuted. Once moved from "Gitmo", those detainees must be either tried or released.

January 21, 2010 has come and gone; everyday past the deadline, anger over Obama's  failure to keep his promise on "Gitmo" has increased.  Betrayal  appears to be is the only option for Obama and the cost will be a politically catastrophic.

Yet,  Graham Lindsey, is prepared to "Save the Day" for Obama and  help Obama close "Gitmo"  if , among other things, Obama agrees

   1. to  prosecute  all terrorists in a military tribunal
   2. indefinite detainment of terrorists with no Miranda  rights
   3. a place other than the US to detain and or release terrorists

Graham is meeting the president to present his plan (work out a sweet deal?) this afternoon."Obama is “getting beat up badly from the left, but the ACLU theory of how to manage this war, I think, is way off base,” he said."

Do you consider Graham's eagerness to grab a piece of the "Gitmo" pie for himself the acts of a RINO or good leadership? Should the senator's attempts to bail out Obama be  political catastrophe for Graham?
