Pride week events: Saturday

Pride Week is almost over, and none too soon: I'm fast running out of things to be proud of. I'm listing Saturday's events in roughly chronological order, categorized by the time of day.

MORNING

Pink Triangle Installation and Commemoration Ceremony on Twin Peaks. From 7-10 am, the Friends of the Pink Triangle will install a giant pink triangle at the top of Twin Peaks, just as they've done every Pride weekend since 1996. Commemoration at 10:30 am; free.

10th Annual Pride Brunch at Hotel Whitcomb (1231 Market). Gary Virginia and Donna Sachet host this event in honor of this year's grand marshals and in support of the Positive Resource Center. 11 am-2 pm; $75-$100. Visit www.positiveresource.org for more information.

AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING

Pride Celebration at Civic Center. The week's main event, with a ridiculous number of stages, booths, food items, and horny revelers. Noon to 6 pm.

Dyke March at Dolores Park. Men aren't allowed to participate, but they can certainly cheer. Rally at 3 pm; march begins at 7 pm.

Gay Shame at Modern Times Bookstore (888 Valencia). Because by this point in the week, you just might be ready to vent at this weekly anti-consumerist gathering. 5:30 pm; free.

7 pm

"The Golden Girls: The Gay Episodes" at Mama Calizo's Voice Factory (1519 Mission). I wasn't crazy about it, but maybe the girls have gotten their act together. 7 and 10 pm; $20. Email goldengirlssf@earthlink.net for tickets.

8 pm

Pink Saturday at Market and Castro. It's not an official event, but it's one of the year's best parties. The crowds start to converge in the Castro around 8 or 9 pm; expect street dancing until 2 am.

The Twilight Vixen Revue and SF Boylesque Q-baret Spectacular at The Garage (975 Howard). Queer showgirls! All-male burlesque! 8 pm; $10-$20.

Cocked and Loaded: Gay Pride Happy Hour at Underground SF (424 Haight). The club that brought you Drunk and Horny is here to get you good and loaded before you hit the Castro. 8-10 pm; free.

Sundance Saloon Country-Western Pride Dance at Hotel Whitcomb (1231 Market). Because nothing says "hotel ballroom" like a country-Western Pride dance. A benefit for the Positive Resource Center. 8 pm-midnight; $10.

"Oh My Godmother!" at Zeum Theater (221 4th St). A Cinderella musical that's even gayer than the Rodgers and Hammerstein version. SF Theater Examiner Chad Jones has the skinny. 8 pm; $20-$35.

"It's Murder, Mary!" at the New Conservatory Theatre Center (25 Van Ness). It's the final weekend for this world-premiere play, which is something like "Eight Women" with an all-male cast. "Men in Uniform" at the New Conservatory Theatre Center (25 Van Ness). An original play (unseen by me) about the getups that get us going. 8 pm; call 415-861-8972 or visit nctcsf.org for tickets.

Queen: The Pride Party for Everyone at Temple (540 Howard). "Everyone," that is, who can afford a $45 cover. 8 pm-4 am; $45.

9 pm

Mango Dyke March After-Party & NectArena Women's Stage Kick-Off Party at El Rio (3158 Mission). El Rio hosts the ultimate follow-up to the Dyke March, sponsored by Kiss My Black Ass Productions. 9 pm-2 am; $10.

Rebel Girl: Dyke March After-Party at Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell). Billed as an "electro indie rock hip-hop '80s mash-up." 9 pm; $10-$12.

Bearracuda Pride '08 at Deco Lounge (510 Larkin). A non-Castro dance party especially for da bears. 9 pm; $8-$10.

Devotion: A Classic Pride at The Endup (401 6th St). The DJs will be spinning until 6 am, so I guess you know where to go when the authorities clear everybody out of the Castro. 9 pm.

The Monster Show: Bootie Mash-Up Pink Saturday Party at DNA Lounge (375 11th St). A "drag queen mash-up extravaganza" featuring Cookie Dough, Pollo Del Mar, and more. 9 pm; $6-$12.

Club Papi: Pride Weekend '08 at Space 550 (550 Barneveld). Featuring a live performance by Crystal Waters. 9:30 pm-4 am.

10 pm

Fauxgirls! at Marlena's (488 Hayes). One of the better old-school drag shows in town, held in a bar that knows how to dress up for an occasion. 10 pm; free.

Hot Mess at The Stud (399 9th St). It is, in fact, both hot and messy. 10 pm; $5.

The Hot Boxxx Girls at Aunt Charlie's (133 Turk). You really shouldn't miss an opportunity to see Vicki Marlane shake her liquid spine. 10 pm; free (and with cheap drinks, too).
