Nintendo of America announced today that the Metroid Prime Trilogy featuring Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption are coming to the Wii in a one-disc set this August.

While Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is a Wii title already, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes were GameCube titles. Nintendo will "revamp" the first two games "with intuitive Wii Remote controls, wide-screen presentation and other enhancements." The press release further describes a "new unlockable system" which "players can gain access to in-game rewards such as music and artwork by accomplishing objectives across all three games."

Nintendo has previously brought GameCube titles Mario Tennis and Pikmin to the Wii, redoing the games so that they could be played with the Wii Remote instead of a controller. It'll be interested to see what other GameCube-exclusive titles are revamped for the Wii next.

The set will be a Wii exclusive and hit store shelves on August 24 for $49.99.
