Elway’s still got [golf] game

Like many other retired ball players, John Elway has found a new way to keep his competitive juices flowing – only this time it’s on the golf course.

Elway, who apparently is quite the golfer (zero handicap and winner of the championship at Castle Pines this summer), is hoping to make the “cut” so he can play in the final two rounds in this weekend’s Colorado Open at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

This is the first time since 2001 the Hall of Fame QB will be playing in the Colorado Open. His bad knee kept him off the green for a long time – but his knee replacement surgery last year is enabling him to compete again.

Elway told reporters in a news conference (as reported in the Denver Post), "Hopefully I can make the cut, that's kind of my goal, to make the cut and be able to play on the weekend. So I try not to set my goals too high. The cut is the most realistic thing I can hope for."
