Kristy Lee Cook dropped by Arista Records
You may remember Kristy Lee Cook as the country crooner from American Idol last season – and hey, she was also the sister-in-law to John Dutton, the quarterback of the Colorado Crush.
Sadly, late last week, Cook was reported to have been dropped by her record label, Arista Records, probably due to lack of record sales.
Cook’s debut album, “Why Wait,” released in September, only sold a disappointing 25,000 copies.
It’s no wonder Cook struggled to survive. While a talented singer, she lacked a certain chutzpah required of superstars. Simon Cowell was tough on her – and Cook was the “
Vote for the Worst” contestant du jour last season – by far she was the contestant getting the most negative press.

American Idol’s Examiner for more details about Cook’s rise to fame and fall to shame. It's a fun article comparing Cook to last season's winner, David Cook.
