Setting the Record Straight: John Elway & Kathy Sabine not dating, engaged, married or having a baby

Sabine squashes relationship rumors w/Elway

Like many Coloradoans, you’ve probably heard a rumor or two about Kathy Sabine and John Elway. Maybe you heard they were loosely dating or in a serious relationship? Or perhaps you’ve heard the whopper rumors that the two were engaged and having a baby?

On the heels of John Elway’s engagement to actress/model Paige Green (See Wedding Bells for John Elway), I asked the 9News weather gal to set the record straight, once and for all, about whether or not she and Elway have ever been involved.

How Did the Rumor Start?
Sabine told me in an email conversation that affable 9News sports anchor, Drew Soicher, known for his practical jokes and bobble head obsession, started the rumor years ago after Sabine divorced her first husband and had considered dating again.

Sabine says, “He [Drew] wanted John Elway and I to date so bad that he started talking about it on the air!”

What fueled the rumor? Sabine said she heard that Jonno was dating a girl named Carrie who had similar features as Sabine. Plus, Jonno had an assistant named Kathy.

But truth be told, Sabine has never even met Jonno - much less engaged to the buff quarterback-turned-businessman.

Sabine adds, “I have been happily married for over three years now to a wonderful man named Scott. Yet, I still get emails and voicemails at work (I got two inquiries just this week!) asking if I am married to John Elway!”

And as for Soicher, apparently he is trying to keep the rumor mill alive and well. Sabine says Soicher brings up her “relationship” with Elway as often as he can.

Hate to rain on everyone’s parade, but there’s no Elway in Sabine’s forecast.
