9News weekend anchor and Littleton native, Carrie McClure, shared a very personal and touching story on-air tonight (June 6).
At only 28 weeks pregnant, McClure’s water broke. She was able to stay in the hospital and hold off delivery for three weeks before giving birth to her third son, Barron, on March 22. He weighed only three pounds, six ounces.
“Every hour was a blessing to hold on and stay pregnant,” she told 9News reporter Kim Christiansen.
After nine weeks at the NICU at Rose Medical Center, Barron, whose name means “warrior,” was able to finally come home.
Now two months old, Barron is healthy and doing well, weighing in at just over seven pounds.
“Every day is such a gift with him,” said McClure. “It’s a new way to look at life. We always viewed ourselves as a blessed family. It’s a newer appreciation [of life].”
