Ever wondered how Colorado’s celebrity-status CEOs and business executives are voting in this upcoming election? A few searches on Fundrace2008’s website and voila!, DCE has come up with a list of who Colorado’s famous business folk are putting their money behind in the race for the White House.
Mr. Colorado businessman himself, John Elway, is indeed a Republican and has donated funds to John McCain ($2,300 in Q2/08) and to the Republican National Committee ($200 in Q1/08).
Phil Anschutz is a big Republican supporter too. The Anschutz Companies donated $28,000 in Q1/08 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Anschutz Corp. donated $10,000 to the Colorado Republican Federal Campaign Committee, among other donations as well.
Richard “Dick” Notebaert, CEO of Qwest Communications, donated $2,300 to McCain (Q1/07) and $2,300 to Bill Richardson (Q1/07).
Peter H. Coors or Coors Brewing donated $2,300 to McCain in Q2/08, and $5,000 in Q3/07 and $2,500 in Q1/07 to the Colorado Republican Federal Campaign Committee.
James Crowe, CEO of Level 3 Communication, seems to be a true blue Democratic (and is rumored to be sharing his gated Englewood home with the Obama camp during DNC week). He donated $14,250 to the DNC in Q1/08, $14,250 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Q1/08 and Q2/07, and $2,500 to Obama in Q1/07, among other donations to the party as well.
EchoStar CEO, Charlie Ergen, seems to pad the pockets of both parties, although it seems he favors the dems over the GOP. He has donated $28,500 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Q4/07, $28,500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Q2/07, $10,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee in Q4/07, $2,300 to McCain in Q2/08, among other donations (it’s a long list!)
Promoter and President of AEG, Chuck Morris, donated $2,300 to Barack Obama in Q2/08.
Curious about how your favorite celebrity, athlete or even your friend or neighbor is voting this November? All political campaign donations are public record, so search away on the FundRace2008 website!
It's a who's who of famous politicians blowing smoke in Denver this week. Republican presidential nominee, John McCain, spoke at DU today, although some anti-war hecklers put a damper on his speech and caused quite a stir. Good thing Senator... Read More Topics:
