Who says you can't work at pulling weeds and still look fabulous? These pretty garden hats will flatter your face while they keep the sun out of your eyes and protect your skin.

- This raffia open-weave straw hat will make you look like you're ready for the beaches. I might buy this one just so I can feel like I'm on vacation. Mai Tai anyone? Available from the San Diego Hat Company. $54.

- This Tilley hemp hat with the black band is one of my absolute favorites. I have traveled with mine to visit gardens all over the country. I just squish my Tilley hat into the bag and fluff it when it comes out. Fabulous! That's what makes Tilley Endurables a sensible fashion staple among the gardening crowd. Available from Hudson Trail Outfitters. $79.

- I don't yet have this Sushehat, but I'm seriously thinking about ordering it. It's feminine and flirtatious--like something Julia Roberts might wear to a garden party. And when I buy it, I'll be helping to support the New York Botanical Garden. That's reason enough right there for a new hat, yes? From the New York Botanical Garden. $48.

- Yes, I also have this ribbon crusher hat. Everyone needs a UPF 50 tested garden hat. That was my stated reason for buying it and I'm sticking with it. It doesn't matter that it's cute and comfortable too. I bought it for the sun protection. Available from the San Diego Hat Company. $42.
