The Diabetes Leadership Institute has planned a hands-on program about taking control of your diabetes and helping others do the same. This program, free of charge to the public thanks to the sponsorship of the St. Louis Diabetes Coalition and Eli Lilly, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 20 at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.

Led by diabetes experts, the small group sessions will address diet, exercise, medication, how to talk with your health care provier, and ways to help others in the community living with diabetes.

Group sessions will be led by:

  • Eric S. Ambrecht, PhD - Assistant Professor, St. Louis University School of Medicine Center for Outcomes Research
  • Joan McGinnis, RN, CDE - Director of Education, St. Louis Diabetes Coalition
  • Denise Strehlow, RD, MPH - Wellness Program Director, Visiting Nurses Association
  • Garry S. Tobin, MD - Director, Washington University Diabetes Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital
