Zinczenko (pronounced zinn-ZENK-oh) has taken the issue of health to men in this and other countries (over 40) en masse through his magazine, Men's Health.
Chances are you've heard of it.
He's the average guy who knows what you want, and he often has the everyman in mind as he edits his book, the largest men's lifestyle brand in the world.
Ever since taking over the throne from former editor-in-chief Greg Gutfeld eight years ago next week, the 38-year old former Bethlehem, Pennsylvania high school wrestler-turned iconic magazine visionary (he was the brainchild behind Best Life and Women's Health) has turned the tables on the mens magazine world from the likes of Stuff and Maxim to his own creations.
Oh, and he wrote The Abs Diet.
Chances are you've heard of it.
More to the point, the man has style: Men's Style. He's the average guy (OK, forget about his multi-million dollar salary and the fact that he once dated Rose McGowan) who knows what you want, and he often has the everyman in mind as he edits his book, the largest men's lifestyle brand in the world.
MH is not GQ. It's not Esquire. It's definitely not Details. And DZ knows MH will never be those titles because it has already surpassed those titles.
As for Zinc? He can pull off T-shirts. He can pull of suits. He does it all while being named to the McCrains's top 40 under 40 list (2005), blogs on Yahoo!'s Shine website and is often a guest on the Today Show.
What you can learn from Zinc:
1. Work out daily and eat right.
2. Try to beat everyone at their game
3. Surround yourself with good people. "I've never had diabetes...or contracted avian flu. But I'll still able to edit a magazine that covers those topics because the magazine and the staff, the team, draws on the best doctors and researchers and experts," he once told the NY Times.
3. Always smile.
4. If a girl asks: "You dress nice and you're good-looking, but single, are you gay?" Just kiss her instead of defending your heterosexuality*.
5. It helps to be the Senior VP at Rodale.
6. Wear suits to the office. A white Oxford shirt and no tie.
