Caner-Medley Playing in Italy, Gist Shines in NBA Summer League

Just read on the "Maryland Basketball: Where Are They Now?" blog that former Terp Nik Caner-Medley recently signed to play in Italy. 

Caner-Medley went unsigned following his senior year in 2006, and has bounced around in the NBA Summer League, NBDL and throughout Europe ever since.  He was playing for the Lakers in the Summer League, averaging 8.8 ppg and 5 rbg before he signed in Italy.

The Maine native played for the Terps from 2002-2006.  He averaged 15.5 ppg and 6.3 rpg during his senior year. 

In other ex-Terp news, James Gist averaged 10.8 ppg and 7.3 rbg in Summer League action while playing for the San Antonio Spurs.  Gist was the team's third-highest scorer and second-highest rebounder. 

Despite his success, Gist has yet to receive an offer from the team.  Hoopworld.com predicts the Spurs will retain his rights and send him overseas to play for a year or two.
