All Quiet in College Park

July 18, 11:40 PM

Not too much going on here in Terpland.  Most of the team is home, resting up and getting ready for the fall semester, according to a Maryland spokesman.

What little news about the team exists surrounds two possible late additions to the 2008-2009 squad.  Rumors that Chicago C Steve Goins is set to join started in late June, but no definite news has come since.  SF Jin Soo Kim, who has committed to be in the Terps’ 2009 recruiting class according to a free article on turtlesportsreport.com, might be considering reclassifying as a 2008 recruit.

The 6-foot-9-inch South Korean sharpshooter originally committed to the 2008 class but his parents thought it would be best for him to take another year to adjust to American life and evaluate all of his college options, a free turtlesportsreport.com article said.

The addition of both Goins and Kim would be fantastic for Terps fans, and give the team 12 scholarship players.  A backcourt of incoming recruit Sean Mosley, Eric Hayes and Greivis Vasquez would be solid.  The frontcourt is still undetermined as Landon Milbourne is the only one mostly guaranteed a starting spot.  If Goins and/or Kim commit for 2008, they could both receive substantial playing time.

But, let’s wait and see if Gary Williams can sign Goins and get Kim to switch to 2008.
