Out and proud gay 'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert now says he kissed a girl—and he likes it.

At one time it used to be the term "bisexual" that people used if they didn't want to be considered gay. Now, the youth is being very circumspect about using the proper term, and Adam says he's "bi curious."

This is the man who is the heir-apparent to out bisexual Freddie Mercury (especially after the remaining members of Queen played with him and were so impressed), and so how great it would be that he sow his bisexual oats.

On 20/20, he was asked about the Rolling Stone interview where he came out of the closet (or actually declared that he was never in the closet), and he 'fessed up that those photos on the Internet of him kissing guys were not Photoshopped and were all the real thing.

But, he also said that although he'd never call himself "bisexual" he would accept being called "bi-curious." And, that is something that fans of all persuasions seemed to like. In the interview (see the full thing in the video clip posted below), he said:

"I wouldn't ever give myself a label bi-sexual but bi-curious, yeah."

"I've been known to make out with girls from time to time ... and who knows, maybe it'll go further some day, who knows?"

Since that interview, the blogs have lit up with fans of all persuasions fantasizing what it would be like to be with the gender-bending fantastic singer.

Some of us are old enough to remember that it hurt Elton John when he came out in Rolling Stone magazine that he was bisexual. That 1976 interview turned Elton from a number-one receiver of fan letters to nothing more than a trickle, according to a music critic.

That's the interview where John declares everyone as bisexual.

John's interview said:

I'd rather fall in love with a woman eventually because I think a woman probably lasts much longer than a man. But I really don't know. I've never talked about this before. Ha, ha. But I'm not going to turn off the tape. I haven't met anybody that I would like to settle down with -- of either sex."

"There's nothing wrong with going to bed with somebody of your own sex. I think everybody's bisexual to a certain degree. I don't think it's just me. It's not a bad thing to be. I think you're bisexual. I think everybody is.. . .  [Laughs] It's going to be terrible with my football club. It's so hetero, it's unbelievable. But I mean, who cares! I just think people should be very free with sex -- they should draw the line at goats. Shirley MacLaine said the right thing to Tom Snyder on TV. She said, 'Oh c'mon, Tom. Let's stop al this stupid macho business. It really is a bit passe now.' And he didn't know what to say to that. Shirley's got the right approach."

Was the first time with a man or woman?

"Um, when I was twenty-one, with a woman. The famous one. The famous woman . . ."
"Um. The famous woman frightened me off sex or so long that I don't remember really. I think it was probably a good year or two."

Adam talks about how his mother was very hip to his sexuality, and made it easy for him to come out.

Adam isn't afraid of being out on the town with his rumored boyfriend Drake LaBry and he's also not afraid to be honest that he still may be fluid in his sexual orientation. And, he's not afraid that admitting to any of this will hurt his career.

Yep, I'd say that the world has made a little bit of progress.
